“I am continually in motion in my studio. At times, I move to the rhythm, making fluid and fiery marks.”

Christina Spann is a natural-born creator. An expressive abstract painter, she creates dramatic and emotive canvases that reflect her inner emotions and interpret the inspiration she receives from nature. Creativity in all the arts was encouraged during her childhood, and she hasbeen making art and participating in dance and theater ever since. For Christina, creativity is a celebration, and she enjoys discovering the depths ofher artistic possibilities. She has been a professional artist for over 45 years.

Christina earned a BFA in Fine Arts in painting and drawing, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University. Subsequently, she completed Masters work in printmaking from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She exhibited her works in art galleries extensively during those years, while also teaching art and delivering lectures at professional design venues. During that time, her impressive artworks were featured in “Bay Area Artists,” a book published by Rizzoli Press.

Some years after graduating, Christina began serving the commercial design industry through her company, known as Lightspann Illumination Design, where she created custom hand-made glass and metal lighting fixtures for businesses and high-end residential clients. Her company was sought out by designers, corporations, restaurants, and hotels who appreciated her unique designs and particularly her ability to understand space, color, design and functionality. The company was highly successful, and Christina sold her business and continued working in the industry until 2015. Since then, her passion for painting has been re-ignited, and she celebrates that with a daily art and painting practice that brings her great joy.

Christina lives and works from her studio in Tucson, AZ. She enjoys sharing her art with art appreciators, and her works have been exhibited at several galleries, including the K. Newby Gallery in Tubac, AZ. Recently, her artwork was selected for inclusion in the highly acclaimed Eight-Women Invitational abstract exhibition at Untitled Gallery in Tucson, AZ. Her works have also been featured in Tucson at the Miraval Resort and Spa. She has received awards and accolades for her creativity from Create Magazine, Art Fluent, Boston, MA, Artists in Arizona, and CEVArt Gallery. Christina’s artwork is found in numerous private collections across the country.
